Dunedin Railway Station Tours

Dunedin's Grand Edwardian Landmark.

Opened in 1906, Dunedin Railway Station is one of the most recognisable historic buildings in New Zealand, with its basalt and Oamaru stone facade, tall clock tower and ornate mosaic-floored booking hall. It is one of the first stops on our city tours and a great introduction to Dunedin's architecture.

Striking Architecture

Dark basalt, pale Oamaru stone and a tall clock tower: the station is a landmark of Dunedin's heritage streetscape.

The Booking Hall

When the station is open, the foyer's mosaic floor and stained glass are well worth a look.

A Photo Stop

On our tours this is a short stop, typically around 15 to 20 minutes, with time for photographs from the gardens out front.

Close to the City Centre

The station is a short walk from the Octagon, and our day continues to the University of Otago and beyond.
